Red Stockings vs. Atlantics

Baseball history illustration depicting the June 14, 1870 defeat of the Cincinnati Red Stockings by the Brooklyn Atlantics. The Cincinnati loss was the first in well over a year, ending their famous winning streak of 89 games. The Atlantics are in the field with George Zettlein pitching and Bob Ferguson playing third base. Ferguson was the Captain of the Atlantics and interestingly enough, this is the first reported game of any player hitting from both sides of the plate—that player was Bob Ferguson.
